Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I don't understand why people are so enthusiastic about MySpace - what's so great about it that distinguishes it so much from the other social network sites? Am I just not with it enough to appreciate?

i'll share with you what's so great about it if you make me your friend on it, or rather a "top 8" friend on it. haha just playing. i don't *love* it but a LOT of people are on it, i've used it to make some new friends in a new place, and to connect on music (local musicians post their work online). but it IS bizarre. and it's so graphically unpleasing (most peoples' my space account pages look like web 0.5 with things going off pages, too many jpegs, etc.

yeah - that was part of my question. I mean, I can see the social networking stuff, and as a musichead, I definitely love that I can hear/download tracks from artists that aren't widely distributed, but the "adds" are pretty annoying - especially all those blinking images. It's like 1998 all over again.
